Since the 2020 Met Gala is no longer taking place, we’re taking a look back at previous years’ content!
It’s no secret that a social media ban is in place at the Met Gala every year, but it’s always expected that lots of celebs will still share photos anyways… and many stores broke the rule in 2019.
Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour instated a ban on selfies and social media in 2015 and while no official reason was ever given, it’s believed that it has to do with security of guests and to make sure everyone lives in the moment.
Alex Rodriguez is one of the stars who posted selfies on social media, all with his fiancee Jennifer Lopez. They also posed with other stars like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Some of the other stars who snapped photos and shared them online included Joe Jonas, Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch, rising singer Lizzo, Crazy Rich Asians‘ Henry Golding, event co-chair Serena Williams, Kylie Jenner, Rita Ora, Laura Harrier, The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah, and director Ava DuVernay.
