The Vengaboys are pleading with fans to stay safe.
The group has gone viral in recent weeks with the “Up & Down Challenge,” based on their smash No. 1 1998 dance hit, which has couples moving up and down together in sync with the beat of the song on TikTok.
The problem is that people are in danger of getting hurt from the acrobatic challenge, which the Vengaboys are nervous about in this current climate.
“We are of course delighted with the huge success, but we still want to ask the TikTok community to stop this challenge. If you break a finger or sprain your wrist, you still have to go to the hospital where they have more important things on their mind right now,” said the group’s Captain Kim.
“At least TikTok has added a warning to the ‘Up and Down’ challenge videos. And even though we can see that a lot of people are having fun, we are pleading with them to stop,” member D-Nice said.
Despite the risk, many stars are still taking on the challenge, including Olly Murs.
