Brian Kemp, the governor of Georgia, has announced that movie theaters, restaurants, and some other businesses will be allowed to reopen on April 27.

Kemp – the same governor who publicly said on April 3 that we had just learned that coronavirus could be spread by people with no symptoms – believes that his state is “on track” to meet the the criteria for “Phase 1″ of reopening. (We’ve known about asymptomatic transmission since mid-February.)

“Subject to the specific social distancing and sanitation mandates, theaters, private social clubs and restaurant dine-in services will be allowed to reopen on Monday, April 27,” Kemp said in a statement (via Variety). “By taking this measured action, we will get Georgians back to work safely, without undermining the progress we all have made in this battle against COVID-19.”

Businesses that will not allowed to reopen include bars, nightclubs, amusement parks, and live performance venues. Other businesses that WILL reopen include gyms, fitness centers, salons, and barber shops.

Kemp says that elderly and people with underlying conditions should remain sheltered in place until May 13. He says that all people should still exercise caution.
